My name's Jake. I'm 25, and I still live with my parents in Manchester. Wythenshawe, to be precise. You know that feeling when you walk into your childhood house and you don't even notice the smell anymore? When your mum opens your bedroom door to feed the cat, and you wake up thinking, "Jesus, I'm 25, and I'm still being told to pick up my socks." I work at McDonald's. On the drive-thru. Five years now. If you've never worked a Friday night drive-thru in Wythenshawe — honestly, it's hell. Thing is, I can't. I make about 300 quid a week. I give Mum 100 for bills and food (she takes it even though I tell her not to — but I know she just puts it in an envelope for my future deposit). 50 goes on petrol. The rest disappears on my credit card — the one I used to fix my battered old Fiesta. Plus a gym subscription I'm not cancelling because it's the only place I still feel human. Moving out in Manchester means at least 800 for a deposit plus first month's rent. I don't have 800. I'v
