🔴 THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN A DIRTY BP BACK ROOM AT 3AM. AT THAT MOMENT, I HAD NO IDEA MY LIFE WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE 🔴 My name’s Jakeb. I’m 35. I work at a BP just outside Birmingham. Night shifts. Six days a week. Honestly — I used to think I could handle everything. Debt. No sleep. Working non-stop. That constant fear of opening your banking app. But at some point, something inside you just breaks. The last few months I’ve been living like a robot. Wake up in the evening. Drive to BP. Work till morning. Then go home and just lie there in my clothes, staring at the ceiling. I stopped replying to mates. Stopped going anywhere. Even turned music off in the car. Because when you’re constantly stressed about money — your brain just gets tired of living in that anxiety. The hardest time on shift is after 2am. When the streets are empty. When it’s pouring down. When the only people coming in are: — lorry drivers; — taxi drivers; — drunk people; — people coming from the casino. And you’re standing there under those bright petrol station lights thinking: “Is this really my life?” 3am. I was sitting in the BP back room sorting a delivery. Boxes of Monster. Chocolate. Cigarettes. Cleaning stuff. My phone was next to me. £31 in my account. I was literally working out if I’d have enough petrol to last till payday. Then I heard the bell above the shop door. Normal sound. I’d heard it hundreds of times that night. But this time felt different. I walked out to the till… And just froze. Standing by the drinks fridge was Anthony Joshua. Black hoodie. Calm. Like it’s completely normal to see AJ at 3am at a random BP near Birmingham. I swear I just stared at him for a good five seconds. He noticed and smiled: “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” I laughed: “Mate… just didn’t expect to see you here.” He came up to the till. Grabbed two coffees, a protein bar and a juice. While I was scanning it, we started talking. He asked: “Long shift?”
