🔴 I TOOK THIS PHOTO AT 3:17AM. AN HOUR BEFORE THAT, I WAS SITTING IN THE BP BACK ROOM THINKING I COULDN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE 🔴 Honestly, that night I was on the edge. My name’s Jakeb. I’m 34. I work at a BP just outside Manchester. Night shifts. 10pm — 6am. People think working at a petrol station is just scanning coffee and cigarettes. It’s not. At night, BP turns into something else entirely. Drunk people. Taxi drivers. Shouting teenagers. Blokes off their heads. Homeless lads. Doors constantly opening and closing. Some nights I hear that till beep hundreds of times. And after a while, you start to hate the sound of the door opening. The past few months, I wasn’t living. Just existing between shifts. Get home in the morning. Sleep four hours. Back again. I stopped properly talking to people. Even when my mum called from Salford — I’d ignore it sometimes. I’m from there myself. Because I was tired of pretending everything was alright. It wasn’t. After rent, insurance, car payments and sending money to family — there was nothing left. Sometimes I’d genuinely sit there thinking: do I eat properly today… or save it for fuel? The worst feeling? Being in your 30s, working every day, and still feeling like you’re drowning. That night it was raining. That cold British rain that just doesn’t stop. Around 3am, a black Range Rover pulled in. I barely looked up. Thought it was just another customer grabbing coffee. Then the door opened. And Anthony Joshua walked in. I actually froze for a second. No security. No ego. Just a normal hoodie. He bought a coffee, a protein bar, and water. While I was scanning it, he looked at me and said: “Long night?” I smirked: “Like the last couple of years.” He laughed. But then he looked at my eyes. And asked properly: “Do you even sleep?” I don’t know why, but that question just broke me. I told him everything. The debt. The exhaustion. Sitting in the back room at night just staring at the wall. Feeling
