"Mrs Penrose, you have 72 hours." I remember the exact moment when my life completely fell apart. My name is Laura Penrose. I’m 37 years old. I live in London, in Croydon, with my husband Hugo and our two kids, Lily, who is 9, and Leo, who is 6. Hugo and I moved to London 10 years ago from Bristol. We arrived with two suitcases and the belief that everything would somehow work out. At first, we took whatever work we could find, cleaning, warehouse shifts, odd delivery jobs. Anything to get on our feet. After three years, we settled down for good. I got a job as an administrator for a private clinic, and Hugo became a delivery driver. It was a good, stable life. But it wasn't enough to cover the cost of living in London. The missed payments started piling up. One month. Three months. Eight months. The bank called every single day. Then came the registered letters. And finally, the last warning notice. Total debt: £34,200. If I didn't settle it by the deadline, repossession proceedings and eviction notices would start. And then those words: 72 hours. I was in the kitchen, my hands were literally shaking while holding the phone. Hugo walked in and saw my face. "Laura? What happened?" I
