🔴 5 YEARS GRINDING ON THE ROADS IN NOTTINGHAM – DEBT WAS SUFFOCATING ME 😤 I’m based out of Nottingham. Five years back, I did what every lad does when they're desperate for a change. Took a £30k loan, bought a van, and started subbing for DPD. I genuinely thought I’d cracked it – finally making some real coin after construction work had basically toasted my back. I told myself it was just a temporary shift. A year or two to clear the slate and move on. How wrong was I? I just got swallowed by the system. Now, every single day is a carbon copy of the last. Alarm at 5 AM, out by 6, loading up the rig, and then it’s non-stop. 200+ drops a day, barely time to grab a sandwich. The scanner is constantly screaming at you, the timer is breathing down your neck, and the sat-nav is a nightmare half the time. Traffic, rain, and customers giving you earache. One late delivery and your performance stats are down the drain. By the time I get home, I’m a ghost. Legs like lead, back aching, and hands still twitching from the rush. On paper, the pay looks decent – £120 to £140 a day. But the reality? Once you’ve paid for diesel, insurance, maintenance, and the usual bills at home… there's literally zilch left. Proper living on the edge, month after month. And that original van loan? Still hanging over me like a dark cloud. Five years of grafting and £30k has only dropped to £18k. It’s soul-destroying. Feels like running on a treadmill that’s tilted upwards. Mid-Feb, I managed to bag a couple of days off. Just did the usual boring stuff – bit of a food shop at Aldi and Tesco. I pulled into a petrol station near Meadow Lane, got a brew, and just sat in the cab for a minute. Total silence. Just the orange glow of the street lights. I started flicking through my phone. Then this clip pops up of Robbie Williams talking about some new app. I just swiped it away. Two minutes later… there he is again. I actually laughed out loud. "Yeah, nice one Robbie, as if that
