🔴 MY OWN MOM LIED TO ME 😤 My name's Sophie. I'm 31. I live in London, in Stratford. I grew up in a normal family. Not rich, not poor. Just normal. Mum's a cleaner. Dad's a driver. They always said the same thing: — Study, Sophie. Get a good education, you'll land a job at a big company. You'll be happy. I believed it. I studied. School — straight As. Uni — bachelor's degree. Went through all those years of hell. Sleepless nights, notes, exams, tears, coffee at 3am. I kept thinking: "I'll just tough it out now, then everything will be fine." In my second year, I met him. His name's Daniel. He was doing a different course, but we crossed paths in the library. He was looking for a plug for his laptop. I let him have mine. We started hanging out.And fell for each other proper fast. Not loud. Not like in the films. Just… real. Cheesy as anything, in the best way. Forever kind of way. After uni, we decided to move in together. Got a flat. An expensive one. But we kept telling ourselves: "It'll sort itself out soon. We're decent. Someone'll have us." No one did. I sent my CV everywhere. Companies, banks, offices. Interviews were always the same:— You've got no experience. Cheers then. I'd walk out the door and cry. I studied my whole bloody life. Got a bachelor's degree. And what? Sweet fuck all. Three months I tried to find a proper job. Nothing. I said to Daniel:— I'll take anything, just to pay the rent. He hugged me and said:— We'll get through this. I'll find something better too. I got a job at Tesco. On the till. Checkout, floors, customers. Uniform — blue polo and black trousers. I told myself: "It's just temporary. I'll keep looking for a proper job on the side." A year went by.I'm still there. Daniel was working as a delivery driver. He had problems too. Shit roster, sore legs. Then they cut his hours. So he came to work at the same Tesco — but in the warehouse. No time to look for another job 'cause rent was due and finding work ain't quick. He was unloadi
