🛑 Honestly. I never thought I'd write something like this. My name's Jasper. I'm 38. I live in Leeds. Been an electrician for twelve years. Up at half five. Breakfast standing up. Drive to the site. Work. Come home. Eat whatever's in the fridge. Sofa. Phone. Sleep. Repeat. Fifty-two times a year. My wife Rachel is a good woman. Not nasty, not dramatic. It's just that at some point something went out in her eyes. Not all at once. Gradually. First she stopped suggesting things to do on Friday nights. I earn decent money for an electrician. But Leeds isn't a village. And life takes everything by the end of the month. Nothing left for savings. Nothing left for a holiday. Rachel showed me some photos once. Lisbon. A small hotel in Alfama, a terrace looking out over the river, little tables right by the water, a sunset over the rooftops. «Look how beautiful,» she said. «Yeah,» I said. «I want to go there.» I looked at the price. £680 for two, flights and three nights. Did the maths in my head. Not now. «Soon, Rach.» She closed her phone a
