“My mum is my superhero.” ❤️ I remember that exact moment. And how the ground completely fell out from under my feet. My name is Aurora Weiss. I’m 32 years old, a single mum, and I live in Dublin, in a small rented flat in Rathmines, with my daughter Sophie. Sophie’s dad… that’s a complicated story. When we split up, he swore he’d help. Said he wouldn’t just walk away. Said he was still her father and would always take responsibility. The maintenance money comes whenever he remembers to send it. Sometimes €120. Our small two-bedroom flat costs €1,750 a month in rent. Then there’s electricity, heating, bin collection, food and everything else. By the end of the month, there’s practically nothing left. I learned to cut back on absolutely everything for myself. New clothes? Forget it. Going out with friends? Almost never. Ordering food? Not happening. But the hardest part was when I couldn’t afford even the smallest things for Soph
