Guys, I still can't really believe what happened to me last Thursday. My name's Mark, I'm 38, I live in Hertfordshire and I deliver beer kegs to pubs for a living. Normally my days are pretty boring. I'm up at around 5 in the morning, load the van, usually about 12 kegs, and then spend most of the day driving around doing deliveries. I've had the same van for years. It's 12 years old now and recently it's been one problem after another. In the last six months I've probably spent about £1,500 fixing it. I've got a wife and two kids, so every time the van needs another £200 or £300 repair, it hurts. We manage, but it's not like we've got loads of spare money sitting around. Anyway, last Thursday I'd been working in London. I'd dropped kegs off at three different pubs and finished pretty late. It was around 10pm when I started heading back home on the A1(M). Everything was normal at first. Then suddenly I felt a jolt through the steering wheel. A few seconds later, I saw white steam coming from under the bonnet. Then I heard this loud hissing noise. I knew straight away something wasn't right. I managed to pull over onto the hard shoulder, switched the engine off and got out. When I opened the bonnet, there was steam everywhere. I'm not a mechanic, but it looked like the radiator had gone. I checked how far I was from home. About 40 miles. My phone was on about 10% battery and I only had around £100 cash on me. So I rang my wife and told her what had happened. She said, "Just call recovery." And obviously that was the sensible thing to do. The problem was I knew it could cost me somewhere around £300. And at that moment, I genuinely didn't have £300 to spend. So I'm standing there next to the van, trying to work out what I'm going to do. I was there for maybe 15 minutes when I noticed a car slowing down behind me. It was a big black SUV. It pulled in behind the van. A bloke got out wearing jeans and a black jacket and started walking toward
