My name is Anna Novak, I am 38 years old. I am from Hungary, but I have been living in the UK, in London, for 7 years now. I once thought that moving would change my life. I believed in stability, work, peace. It seemed to me that the UK was a chance to start everything anew. But everything turned out differently. My husband left me for another woman when our two children, one year apart, were three and four years old. He just left. Without explanations. Without regrets. In one moment, I was left alone – in a foreign country, with two little children, and with a fear of tomorrow. For more than half a year now, I have been looking for a permanent job. I send out CVs, go to interviews, wait for responses. But most often, there is simply no reply at all. Sometimes I feel that for local employers, I am just an immigrant from Hungary who can be ignored. At the moment, I work for an acquaintance in a small café in London. I work as a waitress, wash dishes, clean the dining area, take out the trash. The smell of coffee, greasy dishes, exhaustion in my arms – that is my reality. The money is barely enough for food, transport, and nursery for two. I have rent arrears. Loans. Bills. Overdue payments. Every month is a struggle. Every day is fear. In the evening, I look at my sleeping children. They go to an English nursery. They dream of simple things – new trainers, a trip to the zoo, toys like the other children have. And I realize that I can't give them even half of what is considered normal here. I am not afraid for myself. I am afraid for them. Sometimes at night, I sit in my small flat on the outskirts of London, listen to the street noise, and think: "Is this really my life?" Once, after a difficult shift at the café, I sat in the kitchen and looked at my phone. I had £40 in my account. Money for a couple of days at most. One thought kept spinning in my head: "What's next?" I scrolled through chats for migrants from Eastern Europe, hoping to find stable wor
