The night before our engagement party, my boyfriend's "female bro" was once again showing off her cleavage at dinner. He dragged her away in front of everyone to help her put on nip//ple covers, completely forgetting I have a spare set in my bag—and no one touches them. I ripped mine off and threw them in his face. "Used by someone else? Gross." He couldn't understand why I lost it. Just like he couldn't understand why I was upset when we delayed our premarital checkup for her snow trip, Why her allergy meds were always on our nightstand, Why, when I was in critical condition from appendicitis, he was busy texting her while she was drunk. Until the vice squad kicked down our bedroom door and he shielded her half-unclothed body, shouting, "We're just friends!" I smiled and raised my phone: "Hey, officer, your future daughter-in-law is the one soliciting." Later, he begged for me to take him back . I said: "So, does sleeping with your 'buddy' feel like true friendship?" At dinner with my fiancé's buddies, I noticed his tomboy friend Chloe wearing a very sheer camisole—bold and confident. Her outfit was eye-catching, clearly meant to make a statement. I was still deciding whether to give a subtle warning when Ethan stiffened, grabbed my purse without a word, and escorted her out the door. By the time they came back, looking rumpled and still arguing, she had adjusted her outfit with some temporary fashion covers. Chloe grinned at him. "Forgot to put them on? No big deal. I'm just confident in my style. You're such a prude, Ethan." She caught his hand playfully. "See? It's just clothing. Why fuss so much?" Ethan's jaw tightened, his expression serious. "Enough. Just make sure it's on properly, okay?" I dug through my purse. Sure enough—my spare covers were gone. Ethan caught on fast. "I borrowed yours for Chloe. I'll get you a new set later." I smiled, sharp. "No need. I want them back now." Two small adhesive patches fell to the floor with a quiet s1@p.
